30 Days of Biking

One of the coolest (and dumbest) things about Minnesotans is that we'll bike pretty much anywhere, anytime, in any weather. This April, thousands of bikers will take that love of cycling to the next level with 30 Days of Biking. Now in its fourth year, 30 Days of Biking challenges cycle enthusiasts of all kinds to ride their bikes every day in the month of April, and then share their adventures online at 30daysofbiking.com. Founded by two guys from Minneapolis, the challenge has quickly grown into a worldwide movement, with nearly 1,500 cyclists having already pledged their support this year. A quick scan of their Facebook page highlights a handful of stories, including someone riding in support of a friend who had an accident, an athlete training for a spring triathlon, and a middle-aged couple looking to join a community of like-minded folks. There is still time to take the pledge yourself, and to download the very cool 2013 spoke card (it makes your bike sound like a motorcycle!). All you need to do is visit the website, register, and get ready to find adventure on two wheels. Things kick off this Saturday with an afternoon ride starting at 11 a.m. Folks will meet at the Minnehaha Park and Falls at the waterfall (4801 Minnehaha Ave., Minneapolis), then ride on to Gold Medal Park via River Road.
