This Saturday, Aria will be going back in time for its show and sale featuring the work of iconoclastic pop artist Andy Warhol. On display will be over 50 pieces, many of which were also on view in Warhol's last Minneapolis exhibition in 1974. During his final visit here, the artist stopped by the Minneapolis Institute of Arts for a screening of his film L'Amour, signed copies of The Philosophy of Andy Warhol at B. Dalton Books on Nicollet Mall, and greeted fans at a party as they sipped champagne. Starting this Saturday, you'll find art in a variety of mediums, including a photographic self portrait, a Marilyn Monroe screenprint, and colorful paintings and prints on paper. Many works featured also speak to the artist's time in the Twin Cities (the man was from the Midwest, after all), and there will even be a few portraits of local socialites of the day, including Aria gallery owners Gordon Locksley and George Shea.
