If you continue to wonder why this performance company, which includes some of the Twin Cities' most dynamic and accomplished dancers, incorporates so much spoken text (wouldn't we rather just watch the dancers dance?), then watch Minnesota Original's segment on SPDT. You'll be enlightened. Community activism and social justice are an integral part of the group's outreach activities, and inform the stage work as well. The concert includes the world premiere of "Walking, Singing, and Other Habits," a work that celebrates the everyday and happenstance. Also on the program are "Tales from the Book of Longing," inspired by the poetry of Leonard Cohen and the music of Antony and the Johnsons, and "Total Surrender," which was built in the days following the events of September 11.
