Despite fervent predictions, preparation, and debate, the world didn't end last month like the Mayans said it would. Oops. Our fascination with the pending doomsday will probably continue until, well, it actually happens. For Altered Esthetics' latest group show, "Past the Apocalypse," 15 artists will explore humanity's recurring hysteria over the end of days. Work featured will come in a wide variety of mediums, including digital prints, paintings, photography, sculpture, and ink, and range in tone from terrifying to humorous. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, February 1, with music from Elena, and an artists' discussion panel at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 9. Winter coats will be collected for the duration of the exhibition, with donations benefiting the Salvation Army. (Damon Rowley,Recomposition)
