Club kids used to be fiercely territorial about their favorite subgenres of dance music, but the separating lines have been redrawn so many times that allegiances seem laughable. Canadian duo Zeds Dead are part of a wave of young artists using dubstep as a launchpad to explore other beat-driven sounds, actively dismissing the old guard's notions of keeping EDM in neatly labeled boxes. They're chopping club culture to bits, slathering everything with an unhealthy amount of bass, and leaving the hand-wringing to the purists.
