"I'm from Idaho," states Ryan Hamilton, "but I live in New York City now, and that's kind of funny." Reflecting on his home state, he notes that there are a lot of things that are funny about the Gem State as well. "I come from a very small town, a little farming community of about a thousand people. It was a great place to grow up," he says, "but I don't know how it shaped me as a comedian. I don't know if it's a funnier place than any other place." Though he was funny as a kid, Hamilton wasn't very outgoing. "I wasn't the class-clown type by any stretch," he says. He became a fan of comedy, but had no idea until he was nearly out of college that one could make a living telling jokes onstage. "I always loved watching it and was intrigued by it," he says. "But I only saw it on television. I didn't see live comedy until I was in college. That's when I really started thinking about it as something I could do." Today, he headlines clubs around the U.S. and Canada, and has appeared on NBC's Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central's Live at Gotham, and the Showtime special Caroline Rhea and Friends. 18+.
