This Thursday, the Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project (IARP) will be holding a special reception with Iraqi refugees and immigrants, and American veterans. The event is in collaboration with the University of St. Thomas's International Leadership Program, the Advocates for Human Rights, and the Veterans Book Project. Each book and film featured at the reception shares the stories of people who have lived through the American-led wars in Iraq. According to IARP's Luke Wilcox, the participating authors include a mix of American veteran soldiers and Iraqi refugees and immigrants. The books will be available at the reception, and there will be a screening of short films. American filmmaker Nathan Fisher, who worked with each of the featured Iraqi filmmakers, will be in attendance, and will give a short talk about the process. The event will also include a question-and-answer session with some of the artists.
