More About

The fiercest competition of 2013 is happening this weekend in St. Paul, and there can be only one champion. This Saturday and Sunday, the 37th annual Saintly City Cat Club Annual Championship Cat Show takes place at Roy Wilkins Auditorium, where the most impressive felines will compete for the title of Winter Carnival Household Pet King and Queen (for realsies). The two-day battle royale will pit kitty brothers and sisters against one another in the ultimate battle for house-cat supremacy, with awards being handed out for everything from "best decorated cage" to "spectator's choice." For those who may be thinking, "I bet it's always the same cats and their crazy stage moms who win every year," fear not: Previous royalty are not eligible to win the title again, but may be awarded ring awards and rosettes. So, you'll see a mix of past champions and future superstars, all under one litter-covered roof. Tickets are super cheap, meaning this is a great event for the whole family. But be warned: Coolers are not allowed inside the venue, so you'll have to get sauced up tailgating before heading inside for the onslaught of cuteness. Get out your best puffy-painted cat shirt and get to St. Paul this weekend.
Sat., Jan. 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sun., Jan. 27, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., 2013
