Sure, ice castles are cool, but you generally can't purchase an adult beverage while wandering around inside one. You can, however, order a cocktail this season at the Ice Chamber at le Meridien Chambers in downtown Minneapolis. Last week, the space transformed its outdoor courtyard into a cool winter spectacle boasting a 256-square-foot bar made entirely of ice. The chamber and bar have been constructed from about 12,000 pounds of frozen material, with lights embedded to make the 300-pound blocks glow. This year, there will be a James Bond theme, with sculptures including an Astin Martin, a Bond-girl throne, and briefcases. Guests will be able to order a Grey Goose cocktail, then warm up by the fire pit. Or they can go inside and wander the halls, as the hotel's Burnet Gallery features a variety of interesting artwork in its permanent collection. Its current visiting exhibition highlights pieces by select MCAD MFA students and their mentors, and runs through February 24.
