The death of a child is perhaps the most devastating event in any parent's life. The raw emotions make it a difficult subject to capture onstage without descending into a bad Lifetime movie. David Lindsay-Abaire's Rabbit Hole avoids those pitfalls, producing a piece of rare beauty that faces the tangled, horrible aftermath head-on while avoiding the easy resolutions we've been taught to expect. A winner of the Pulitzer Prize and multiple Tony nominations, the play follows a couple lost in grief after the death of their son in an automobile accident. As they attempt to piece their lives back together, they are faced with marital complications, difficult-to-control emotions, and the appearance of the teenage driver who struck their child. The play has been produced by the Jungle and Workhouse theaters in the last few years, with Theatre in the Round now taking up the piece. David Coral directs the five-actor ensemble, which includes Elana Giannetti and Ron Ravensborg as the couple, Rachel Finch as best friend Izzy, Linda Sue Anderson as the mother, and Kenny Martin III as Jason, the teenager whose own life has been turned upside down.
