International Reggae All-Stars

Make all the jokes you want about the climate differences between Kingston and Minneapolis, but the cultural ones aren't as hard to reconcile. The aptly dubbed Lynval "Golden Voice" Jackson and his band have been a welcome and frequent presence in Twin Cities clubs for years now, and they're serious about the bonafides in their name. We're not just talking the international aspect -- other members hail from Trinidad, Ghana and Venezuela -- but the "All-Stars" aspect, which covers both the virtuosity of the players and the scope of their repertoire. Doing the legacy of Bob Marley justice is a regular part of their setlist, but they're also well-versed in the last few decades of reggae and dancehall luminaries, from Tony Rebel to Beres Hammond to Wayne Wonder.
