In the olden days (a.k.a. the '70s, '80s, and '90s), ugly holiday sweaters were something worn once to placate the family, then hung in the back of a closet or tossed. Fortunately, irony is not a wasteful phenomenon, and allows us to laugh at the hideous things we would have otherwise forgotten or thrown away. This Thursday, Uptown Cafeteria and Support Group will celebrate the ugly sweater with booze and seasonal shenanigans. The restaurant's awesome rooftop is closed. However, there will be plenty of things to enjoy on the first floor, including holiday karaoke, giveaways, party favors, and special Crispin Cider cocktails. Are you a hipster without an ugly sweater in sight? Ragstock on Lake Street has a bountiful collection, and will issue you a free drink card for the party with the purchase of one of their craptacular holiday knits.
