More About

How do Minnesota literati prepare for the impending long months of brutal winter? Why, they get dressed up and come together to celebrate solitary poet Emily Dickinson's birthday, of course! Cold weather won't stop local writers, authors, and avid readers from putting on garb that is either all black or all white for the Loft Literary Center's festive winter party. Like most Loft events, Emily Dickinson's Black & White Birthday Ball offers a unique combination of writerly activities, including an open recitation of Dickinson's poems (anyone is welcome to join in). For those not fond of public speaking, bring a printed poem to trade for another in the poetry swap. The evening also includes Dickinson-inspired party favors, music, and a black-and-white-themed reception featuring good eats from the poet's personal recipes.
Sat., Dec. 8, 7 p.m., 2012
