Many shoppers will be heading to the mega-mall this week, while others will be surfing the web with their credit cards in hand. Don't worry if neither of those gift-purchasing methods appeals to you, as several local galleries and craft organizations have organized special events and pop-up shops to help you get through the present-giving season. The Soo Visual Arts Center is one such space. For the next couple of weeks, the Lyn-Lake gallery will be running a satellite shop in the Kingfield neighborhood, near Pat's Tab and Honeycomb Salon. Here, folks will find handmade and unique gifts like knitted scarves and hats, jewelry, paintings, household items, and other cool things to wrap up and place under the Christmas tree. Participating artists include Amelia Biewald, Jaime Carrera, Erin Currie, Jennifer Davis, Caitlin Karolczak, Alex Kuno, Lollycopter, Terrence Payne, Amy Rice, Squared Furniture, and many others.
