Choreographers' Evening: 40th Anniversary

This Saturday, Choreographers' Evening celebrates its 40th anniversary with odes to the past from a lineup curated by Patrick Scully and Aparna Ramaswamy. Performers include Judith Brin Ingber, who is re-creating the solo she performed as part of the very first event; Blake Nellis, who is doing a piece inspired by 1972; Michael Engel, who is reprising his "Desiderata Update #1" from the early '80s; and Joanne Spencer, who is coming out of retirement to perform a piece called "Dandelion." Also on the docket are Emily King with an homage to 8-bit video games; Third Coast Collective re-imagining dances from past years; Kenna Cottman directing a segment performed by Voice of Culture; and Luke Olson-Elm with a work titled "Without These Qualities (all will be lost)." There will also be a contact improvisation duet for two men by Rosy Simas, and hip hop from Christ Up Dance Crew.
Sat., Nov. 24, 7 & 9:30 p.m., 2012
