More About

Alison Arngrim spent seven years playing Nellie Oleson, the stuck-up, malicious, manipulative girl who made Laura Ingalls's (Melissa Gilbert) life miserable on Little House in the Prairie. Today, Arngrim can laugh about being hated by viewers for much of her childhood. In her memoir, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated, Arngrim shares stories about what it was really like on the set, and how the character Nellie influenced Arngrim in her adult life. This week, Arngrim will return to Camp Bar's Cabaret Theater for a standup show based the book, telling hilarious behind-the-scenes stories of debauchery with Melissa Gilbert and the craziness of growing up in a Hollywood family. Bill Collins, owner of Camp Bar, is excited to welcome Arngrim back to St. Paul. "When we brought Alison out this summer, the show sold out so quickly that a lot of people were disappointed they didn't get to see her," he says. "The show is a fun mix of stories from Alison's time on Little House, and how being known as the definitive bitch has both plagued and blessed her life." (Photo by Gor Magaera)
