How well do you know northeast Minneapolis? Whether you're a resident, regular patron, or completely unfamiliar with the area, you'll most likely learn something new at Field Trip Day MPLS. On this self-guided adventure, participants will be ushered into private studio spaces, led to historic sites, prompted to notice often-overlooked details, and encouraged to take more quirky, offbeat paths of the city. As noted in the press release, expect to "happen upon tiny secret doorways, bask in the glow of gilded religious iconography, see enormous puppets come to life, or play bocce ball atop a mass grave — northeast Minneapolis is your oyster." Wow. Explorers need to bring a smart phone, as online maps will lead the way, and folks are encouraged to travel via bike or car since some of the 30-plus potential destinations are located in the furthest corners of the Northeast. Whether you choose to meander casually or travel at top speeds is up to you. Return to Dusty's for an after-party from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by an after-after-party featuring live music and shadow puppetry at Creative Iron Werks. This is a free event, but space is limited.
