More About

Folks who thrive on a gluten-free diet will want to sit this one out. However, for the rest of us the Bread Festival at the Mill City Farmers' Market is a chance to sample a wide variety of the tasty, chewy, yeasty, crumbly foodstuff. Early in the day, experts — including Zoe Francois and Jeff Hertzberg (who penned Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day) and Michelle Gayer of Salty Tart will be giving demonstrations and offering treats using an outdoor oven. The market will be also stepping up its bread products available on Saturday, with special grains, flours, and baking materials for sale. Or, if you prefer to skip the oven, purchase some tasty baguettes, loaves, croissants, or other treats to take home. Do you have a killer recipe you'd like to share with other bread enthusiasts? A panel of experts will be judging the best submissions in the quick bread and yeast bread contests, so be sure to enter. Gypsy Mania will provide music, and the Walker Art Center will be offering fun activities for kids. (Photo by David Tinjum of Mill City Times)
