More About

What would the natural world look like if plants and animals were susceptible to things like insecurity and vanity? What kinds of products would they buy if they suddenly became consumers? How can we, as human beings, make their lives better? These are questions posed in Aaron Dysart's latest exhibition, "That's Better," where the artist examines ways to make the tasks of wild creatures less time-consuming, and their appearances more attractive. Dysart, who was a resident artist at Franconia Sculpture Park this summer, takes a humorous but genuinely thought-provoking approach to his work, which often explores the ways in which humans attempt to better the environment through scientific advances. His past projects have included riding down the Mississippi River on a (non-polluting) boat made of soap, and decorating a maple tree and throwing a party for it during Northern Spark. The opening reception is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 30. (Aaron Dysart, Antler Augmentation)
