Landland: How to Becoming Absolete

While galleries and museums around town continue to host great exhibitions throughout the year, random pop-up shows and art installations in unconventional spaces like storefronts, warehouses, and residential garages are an interesting trend worth keeping on the radar. This Saturday, graphic design and illustration studio Landland will show some work in the Foiled Again Salon. The group consists of Dan Black and Jessica Seamans, and has been taking on a slew of interesting projects since 2007, including album covers and poster art. The team has recently worked on materials for the Black Keys, Andrew Bird, Poliça, and Bon Iver, and the results have been fabulously intricate pieces filled with tessellations, billboards, pinecones, and the occasional tribute to iconic Minnesota structures. There will be an artists' reception 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 25. 2807 Johnson St. NE, Minneapolis; 612.781.5150. Through September 8
Aug. 25-Sept. 8, 2012
