Alternative gallery spaces are popping up all over the place. The Bindery Project, located in an industrial building off University Avenue in St. Paul, is one example. Co-founded earlier this year by artists Caroline Kent and Nate Young, the group set a goal "to facilitate engaging and meaningful exhibitions, operating outside the constraints of institutions and the art market." This weekend, the duo present a solo exhibition by New York interdisciplinary artist Nyeema Morgan. It includes Morgan's intricate digital drawings, created between 2007 and 2012, where she used a rule-based system to visualize 47 different pound-cake recipes, then systematically repeated the work to create 47 variable drawings. Delicious. The exhibit also includes Morgan's writings on that work, and her photography.
