While Harriet Island will play host to festivities of a Celtic nature, the State Capitol will be filled with the sights, sounds, and tastes of India. The daylong celebration, formerly known as Festival of India, kicks off with an Independence Day ceremony and parade. Throughout the event, guests will be able to nosh on tasty treats from some of the most popular Indian restaurants in Minnesota, and pick up some recipe ingredients from artisan and spice vendors. There will be plenty of children's activities, such as face painting and kite flying. Those looking for a little culture will want to check out dance and vocal performances on various stages, and the arts and crafts from local and global artists.
