More About

Minnesota Center for Books Arts' latest showcase, "In Association," features four different exhibitions by renowned local artists. Harriet Bart's collaborative work examines the impact that objects — books, everyday items, and found pieces — have on narrative and memory. Thomas Rose and Wilber H. Schilling have worked together on projects resulting in mixed-media book works and fine press. Schilling uses photography to tell stories while Rose's work explores how building ruins and old architectural plans speak to time and space. Burlesque of North America and Permanent Art & Design Group will examine "Working Title," a project and group show where local artists took turns adding, subtracting, and building upon unfinished works by other artists for the duration at CO Exhibitions. Finally, in the Open Book lobby is the "The Manulua Project," which re-examines a type of ancient book/paper binding that uses Tongan bark cloth. There will be an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 10. (Wilber H. Schilling and Thomas Rose,Where Do We Start)
