Now in its sixth year, Afrifest Pan African summer festival celebrates with a wide variety of events at several different locations. Things kick off Friday at the Ritz Theater (343 13th Ave. NE, Minneapolis) with a gala fundraiser. The evening will feature happy-hour drinks, food sampling, a live auction, a fashion show, dance, and music. On Saturday and Sunday things move to North View Junior High for two days of performances, food, arts and crafts, a six-team soccer tournament, and a health and wellness fair with fitness specialists, health tests, and seminars. There will be plenty of things for kids to do as well, including games and other special activities. For more info, visit www.afrifest.org.
