This weekend, Minneapolis will host a triad of art shows in the downtown, Uptown, and Powderhorn neighborhoods. Things kick off Friday with the biggest of the three, the Uptown Art Fair (uptownartfair.com), where over 350 artists from around the world will set up shop along Hennepin Avenue. You might find something for your blank walls, or to wear the next day, as there will be paintings, jewelry, sculptures, photography, clothing, and more for sale. The hyper-real human sculptures and the kinetic artworks are especially popular booths. Other activities include a culinary competition at Kitchen Window that teams chefs with artists to create delicious and aesthetically pleasing dishes using chocolate, beer, rice, and a mystery ingredient. Over at the Walker Library Courtyard, guests can mold their own clay pieces with folks from the Northern Clay Center. Looking to go to all three events, but don't want to bike or deal with parking? Download a Metro Transit pass at metrotransit.org/ArtPass and ride between events for free.
