This Saturday, Tour de Fat returns to Loring Park for daylong festivities honoring cycling. Spend some time on Friday decorating your ride, then join the costumed bicycle parade that kicks off the event (registration at 9 a.m.). The entertainment carries on into the afternoon with live music and performances from Los Amigos Invisibles, Sean Hayes, Yo-Yo People, and Sssnakenstein on a stage made from recycled materials. Revelers will also be able to enjoy $5 New Belgium beers plus local food from vendors. As always, the festival culminates in the swapper challenge, where participants trade in their cars for a new kick-ass commuter bicycle from a shop in town. They've made a commitment to bike year-round — no small feat when you live in Minnesota. Proceeds from beer sales will benefit several local cycling organizations.
