A new work by choreographer Morgan Thorson is always an occasion to rush the doors in anticipation, because there's no telling what she'll do next. Without a doubt, you'll be befuddled, amused, transported, and invigorated by her singular approach to movement and meaning, and that's never a bad thing. "Spaceholder Festival," which Thorson workshopped at the Maggie Allesse National Center for Choreography in Florida, is ostensibly an investigation of movement as artifact. Archaeological thinking and methods inform the piece. Layers of behavioral corporeality and physical memory are among the components. Sxip Shirey created the score with rhythms from auctioneering and excavation. Lenore Doxsee is the lighting designer. The work includes performers Jessica Cressey, Hannah Kramer, Karen Sherman, Kristin Van Loon, and Max Wirsing. Say no more. (Photo by Megan Mayer)
