It's a prom night for the ages in the final piece to be presented at this year's Fresh Ink series at the Illusion Theater, and it's one that brings together a trio of distinctive Twin Cities talents. A Night in Olympus features a book by award-winning playwright Jeffrey Hatcher and playwright/Mystery Science Theater 3000 alum Bill Corbett, and lyrics and music by local music legend Chan Poling of the Suburbs and the New Standards. It's not Poling's first foray into theater; he composed music for Flying Foot Forum's Heaven in 2010. Hatcher and Corbett are longtime friends who have collaborated together in the past, and Hatcher has a long production history with Illusion and Fresh Ink. In the work-in-progress, a high schooler who is more interested in zombie movies than hanging out with the popular kids finds herself transformed into an Olympian beauty. The transformation alters her, and drives her high school and town into chaos. The production is directed by Michael Robins, with musical direction by Michael Pearce Donley.
