(re)locate: A Place to Call Home

Moving is always an interesting and potentially stressful experience, but factor in a new country, language, and culture, and you have an entirely different set of challenges on your hands. For Third Place Gallery's latest show, "(re)locate: A Place to Call Home," Selma Fernandez and Wing Young Huie teamed up to explore neighborhoods that are becoming increasingly culturally diversified. Along the way they snapped shots of immigrants, political refugees, and new citizens — the human faces behind Minnesota's changing demographics. The documentary-style photographs capture folks in personal moments such as reflecting on the steps of a school or resting on their porch. There will be an opening reception with an artists' talk from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 21, followed by ping pong into the evening. (Photo by Selma Fernandez)
