Since some people celebrate their half birthday, why don't we do the same for holidays? Or create new holidays to tide us over between others? This is the awesome logic behind Laborial Day, a completely made-up holiday honoring the halfway point between Labor Day and Memorial Day. Like any of the really good holidays throughout the year, this one involves special traditions, friends, and lots of booze. The event is the brain child of the Trivia Mafia folks, who host a huge number of weekly pub quizzes around the Twin Cities. Leading up to the big day of festivities is the scavenger hunt for the Laborial Stone, which is hidden somewhere around town. Clues have been posted weekly on TriviaMafia.com, and the finders of the object will be crowned king and queen. Sunday's northeast Minneapolis bar crawl starts at the 331 Club, and features live music, pub trivia read by exotic dancers, prizes, Laboreos (the official cookie of the holiday), and good cheer. Black-and-white attire is encouraged, as this is the one day you get a pass for not knowing which holiday you can't wear white after.
