More About

Neil Simon's 1972 play about a pair of vaudevillians reuniting one last time — despite absolutely hating each other — has seen the likes of Jack Klugman, George Burns, and (currently in London) Danny DeVito in various productions. Two of the Guthrie Theater's elder statesmen, Raye Birk and Peter Michael Goetz, take on the roles of Al Lewis and Willy Clark starting this weekend. There's an embarrassment of riches in experience between the pair, from performing in The Naked Gun, The X-Files, and Seinfeld (Birk), to turns in more than 100 Guthrie productions, along with Father of the Bride and Arrested Development (Goetz). In The Sunsine Boys, Lewis and Clark have spent 11 years in unhappy retirement, pleased only that they haven't had to talk to each other. A TV special changes that — but can the pair actually stand to be in the same building, let alone share space onstage? The cast also includes Robert O. Berdahl, Nathaniel Fuller, Jennifer Maren, Greta Oglesby, and Samuel Finnegan Pearson. Brave New Workshop founder — and likely vaudevillian in another era — Dudley Riggs has a cameo role as the "Sketch Patient." Gary Gisselman directs. In previews Saturday, July 7-12. Tuesdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: July 7. Continues through Sept. 2, 2012
