More About

The premise of "The Architecture Show" is just as it sounds: Work by artists who take their inspiration from buildings — whether design, materials, space, or deconstruction. The building in question is the former farm-implement factory, Studebaker Packard showroom, and home to Architectural Antiques now known as the 801 Washington Lofts, with its captivating and cavernous multistory art gallery/lobby. For Aldo Moroni, who originated the show, the premise translates to an immense drawing that covers the first and second floors. Mark Kirtz has incorporated wood from the building into his work. Keith Holmes has printed his political photos on the bricks. Garth Rockcastle, the architect who transformed the building into lofts a decade ago and who currently resides there, shares ideas about the process of conceiving and adaptively reusing the building design. Other artists include Laura Migliorini and Peter Brown. There will be an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 7. (Adlo Moroni photographed by David Olson)
Sat., July 7, 6-9 p.m., 2012
