MPR's comedy variety show Wits closes out its stellar season with perhaps its strongest lineup yet. Alt-comedy goddess Amy Sedaris has a lengthy résumé that includes prolific film and TV work, two wonderfully warped how-to books, and frequent theatrical collaborations with her brother, author David Sedaris. But good comedy nerds know her best as the star of Strangers with Candy, the fantastically weird send-up of after-school specials she co-created and wrote with Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert. Joining Sedaris are They Might Be Giants, John Flansburgh and John Linnell's long-running, Grammy-winning musical collaboration that flaunted their geek cred way before being a geek was cool. And you never know who else might show up to a Wits production — count on some MST3K alum to add to the fun, and cross your fingers that semi-regular guests like Neil Gaiman and local whiz Joseph Scrimshaw make an appearance. Adding a little extra excitement, there will be a Tweet Up starting at 6 p.m. outside the Fitz, complete with food trucks and music by the Brass Messengers, as well as a chance to win a pair of tickets to this sold-out show.
