More About

Public radio's reputation for being a bit stuffy isn't entirely unearned — we can consider all things, but can we really consider all things interesting? Host John Moe's largely improvised comedy variety show Wits, however, upends that stereotype with a lineup of contemporary singers, comics, and performers at the barbed edge of satire. Conversely, Bobcat Goldthwait gained early notoriety as a comedy delinquent — that'll happen when you set fire to the guest's chair during a taping of the Tonight Show — but the brash persona of his youth belied a savvy and insightful writer and filmmaker who directed the cult classic Shakes the Clown as well as the pitch-black World's Greatest Dad. His latest movie, the mordant morality comedy God Bless America, is drawing great notices, and he continues to tour the country with his excellent standup act. MPR gets to hang out with the bad kids and Bobcat gets to showcase his smarts for the public-radio crowd. They'll be joined by Steven Page, who was lead singer and co-founder of the Barenaked Ladies.
