Kjell Bjorgen is back. After taking a break from comedy, the Minneapolis native recently performed at the Akumal Comedy Festival in Mexico. "It was brilliant," he says. "I started 10 milligrams of Lexipro three months ago, and that's been fucking awesome. I'm just starting to get back to performing again and enjoying it. [I'm] delving into a new chapter of standup comedy." Bjorgen returns with a new perspective, and an updated style. "I'm trying to do new stuff," he explains. "And a lot of stuff is happening onstage through crowd interaction. That seems to be when my brain is firing on all systems and I'm at my sharpest." During his last performance at the Joke Joint, he asked an audience member about antidepressants. "He said he didn't like them because they made him act weird. He tried building a robot out of cardboard boxes. He was being completely honest about it." Bjorgen is using interactions like that to develop his new set. "I'm shying away from pop-culture stuff, and that used to be a big part of my act. Now I'm talking about more personal things, observing people, finding things that are interesting to me, and hopefully pulling something funny out of it." The show also features Bryan Miller.
