More About

In "Landscape of the Mind" at the Katherine E. Nash Gallery, mindscapes — those images and fields of inquiry, whether preternatural or concrete, that take shape in our psyches and imaginations — are rendered in media as varied as paint, installation, sculpture, photography, drawing, and film. The 20-some artists in the international show hail from places like Berlin, Minneapolis, Brooklyn, and Mount Pleasant, Australia. Their investigations of body, memory, culture, and imagination range from evocative to banal, fantastical to inventive, surreal to hyper-realistic. Rebecca Pavlenko's meditative photograph montages are here, as are Jil Evans's liquid abstractions, and Ulrike Mohr's haunting sculptures. During the opening, the video biography Laura Aguilar: Life, the Body, Her Perspective will be screened continuously, lending insights into her photographic triptychs. There will be an artists' reception from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday, June 9. (Pipo Nguyen-duy, The Lotus Pond)
May 22-June 30, 2012
