More About

This Saturday marks the opening of the Walker Art Center's Open Field, where the big grassy hill on the museum's north side becomes a park, a coffee shop, a school, and even a bar and restaurant. Stop by the Tool Shed first to borrow picnic and playground items like blankets, sports equipment, reading materials, and games. Or bring a friend and a laptop and get some work done using the lawn's free Wi-Fi. Over at the Garden Grill by D'Amico folks can fill up on treats from the grill, including burgers, veggie patties, chips, and more. Or sip wine and beer at a nearby picnic table (happy hour is 5 to 10 p.m. Thursdays). In between hanging out there will be a variety of workshops, campfire musical jams, art swaps, movie screenings (the Summer Music & Movies series concludes with The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari out on the lawn), and other fun summertime activities.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays-Sundays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursdays, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Starts: June 2. Continues through Sept. 1, 2012
