Rosalux Gallery's next exhibition, "In-Flux," features two women artists whose work challenges perceptions, as things aren't always as they seem. Laura Stack and Valerie Jenkins, both part of the gallery's artist-run cooperative, will present works on paper. Stack is exhibiting mixed-media pieces and Jenkins is showing drawings. Stack's background as a illustrator, painter, and graphic designer leads to interesting juxtapositions of organic and synthetic forms, forcing together worlds that are fundamentally opposite. In her work, she creates hyper-natural organisms as she plays with geometric shapes as well as improvised organisms drawn from nanotechnology and genetic engineering. Jenkins, a recipient of the 2012 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant, distorts reality, too, drawing on shredded paper and transforming it into an intricate pattern. There will be an opening reception from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. There will also be an artists' talk with Shana Kaplow at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 21.
