The who's who performances of the local contemporary dance scene occur monthly at the Bryant-Lake Bowl, where the 9x22 Dance/Lab offers an incubator for new works. Hosted by veteran dance maker Laurie Van Wieren, the evening invites dancers and choreographers to congregate and give feedback on each others' work. While the vibe is supportive and celebratory, the audience has a tendency to not mince words, often delivering acute and honest critiques. For those outside of the dance community, it's a chance to get an insider's view of the process of creating, and to see work in its development stage. This week, 9x22 will present Chris Holman, who shook up the Walker's Choreographer's Evening in 2009 in his first choreographic attempt. He'll be premiering a new duet with Skewed Visions' Charles Campbell, called "I love you, Don Cornelius." Also on the docket is Elijah Ebbenga, who will present a new solo work, "note to self," developed in Deborah Jinza Thayer's composition class at Zenon. Finally, Anna Marie Shogren, a Minnesota native now based in Brooklyn — whose performance work has been seen at the Walker Art Center, the Southern Theater, Red Eye Theatre, and the BLB, as well as various venues in New York — will perform a new solo called "TREXTREE."
