Michael, a young boy living in 1950s suburbia, has issues. His family appears to be living the American dream: His father has a steady job at the nearby Toxico chemical plant, his mother cooks and dotes on her family like Donna Reed. And yet, Michael suspects that his parents are cannibals. How else does one explain the enormous choice meat cuts served up every night? And why isn't he allowed in basement? The flick, which came out in 1989, stars Randy Quaid. Since we're dealing with questionable meat here, there are certainly a few bloody gross-out horror moments, but Parents has some biting dialogue and dark humor that puts it more in the dark-comedy genre. Added bonus: The film crew really took the time to recreate '50s-era Massachusetts, including the wallpaper, carpeting, and set dressing.
