Despite its reputation as a hobby for only the wealthy, collecting art doesn't have to be prohibitively expensive. You just have to know when and where to shop. At Art 4 Shelter, folks will have the opportunity to check out over 1,000 original pieces of art from established and emerging artists. All are priced at $30 apiece, and all sized at 5" x 7". The catch? All works on display will be sold blind, meaning you won't know whether you're taking home something by Alec Soth or by a promising new talent until you check the back after the piece is yours. But that's half the fun, really. From 5 to 7 p.m. revelers are invited to wander the Burnet Gallery scoping out their favorite works while sipping wine and snacking on appetizers from D'Amico Catering. Then at the stroke of 7 p.m. the shopping begins. Added bonus? Proceeds from this free and affordable benefit party will go to Simpson Housing Services, which provides aid to homeless individuals.
