Altered Esthetics' yearly homage to old-school video games returns this week with "Level_13: Cheat Codes." For the group show, 14 artists were invited to create paintings, jewelry, photographs, and other works of art inspired by Nintendo and Atari classics like Tetris, Super Mario Bros., Pac Man, and the Legend of Zelda. There will also be pieces that claim obsolete technology like Walkmans and floppy discs as their muses. Expect to see a lot of mushrooms, geometric shapes, and maybe even a little pixelation. Never played any of these games? You'll be able to experience some firsthand, as there will be Nintendo games up on a large projection screen during the opening party from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 6.
