Painter Dale Johnson has been teaching at Bethel University for 40 years while developing an oeuvre of figurative, landscape, and abstract paintings celebrated for their vibrant colors; loose, evocative brushstrokes; and bold lines. "Drawing into Painting" includes a selection of such works, as well as Johnson's drawings. His inspiration ranges from the bluffs and woods along the Mississippi River to people of the Dominican Republic; from the ice shanties dotting Minnesota lakes in winter to the vast rolling plains of rural Italy. Studying his work is an exploration into movement, pattern, shape, and color. There will be an opening reception at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 10.
