More About

Facial hair can make or break a face. So whether you have a bushy natural beard, prefer a trimmed and simple look, or take the time to carve intricate lines and patterns into your growth, it's important that you choose wisely. These decisions will have even more impact should you choose to enter the Minnesota Beard-Off this Saturday. Here, you'll be able to enter your face and its hair to compete for prizes in one of four categories: full beard (hair must cover the chin), partial beard (enter if you rock the mutton chops, sideburns, goatees, and so forth), mustache (handle bars, cop 'staches, full dusters), and freestyle. That final category is a wild card, and ladies and dudes who enter it should be creative, whether your beard is drawn on or made out of something totally random (Flowers? Bees? Shaved coconut?). Judges include other dudes with mighty beards, plus local musician Courtney McLean and mascot Ragnar the Viking. The event, which also features beard-themed poetry and a beard-making station, will be hosted by Mike Fotis. To register, visit mn.beardoff.com. 18+.
