Insights 2012 Design Lecture Series: Michael Lejeune, Metro Design Studio

Can public transportation be perceived as cool? This was the task that faced Michael Lejeune of LA Metro Design Studio. While a project like this may be easy in Minnesota, where hipster bike culture thrives and MetroTransit and the light rail allow us to avoid driving in the snow, things are a quite different in Los Angeles, where car culture and urban sprawl reign supreme. In the third talk for the Walker Art Center's Insights 2012 Lecture Series, Lejeune will discuss how he set out to make public transit hip and accessible through branding, commercials, map designs, and more, picking up over 80 awards along the way. Book designer David Pearson will round out the series with the final talk the following week.
Tue., March 20, 7 p.m., 2012
