This Wednesday, Joseph Mattson and Eric Lorberer will host a lively talk on The Speed Chronicles at Magers & Quinn. The book, which was edited by Mattson, is a collection of stories about the drug speed and its effects. Writers featured include James Franco, Sherman Alexie, and Mattson himself. Each section offers different perspectives as authors honestly and dynamically explore the complexity hidden in the pitfalls—and appeal—of speed. The publication is part of The Drug Chronicles, a new crime anthology series from Akashic Books that focuses on substance abuse and addicts. Lorberer is the editor and founder of Rain Taxi Review of Books, a locally based literary magazine. He also leads organization on the annual Twin Cities Book Festival. Mattson is the author of short-story collection Eat Hell, and a novel, Empty the Sun. There will be a reception after the talk.
