For Chad Daniels, getting sent to his room when he was a kid wasn't so much a punishment as it was vocational training. "I'd watch standup," he explains. Early influences were Jon Stewart and Marc Maron. "I slowly got into it. I remember staying up late to watch Evening at the Improv when I was in sixth grade. There was always something cool about comedy." His upcoming shows in Minneapolis will be a homecoming as he returns to Acme Comedy Co., the club where he did his first open mic. In 2009, he was a City Pages Artist of the Year. After the release of his CD Busy Being Awesome, he felt that he had found his voice. "I feel like that CD was even more me than the first one [2 Minutes for Stale Hacking]," he says. "I found my groove, and it was easier to write material and make it my own. Now I have a certain style and thought process." Daniels's Comedy Central special was voted number five all-time by the network's viewers in 2010. "I'm funny," he states. "If you're not willing to come to a show, you're just being difficult." 18+.
