More About

This Sunday, Minnesota Public Radio's the Current is throwing its seventh annual Rock the Cradle bash. While the event is aimed at children age toddler to 8, unlike many things rugrats dig, this celebration will also appeal to hip parents. Here, revelers can boogie down to children's tunes spun by Jacquie Fuller, Mary Lucia, Mark Wheat, and other MPR favorites. Next, take a breather as DJs read stories, or join MPR commenter Kevin Kling as he narrates from his recent work, Big Little Brother. Little sprites can collaborate with COMPAS, a nonprofit known for incorporating art into all stages of life, to help create a large-scale art piece that will hang at Children's Hospital in St. Paul. The puppeteers from Open Eye Figure Theatre will present selections from The Learning Fairy, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and Toy Theatre After Dark. Kiddos can also rock out to live performances by local darlings Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles, the Okee Dokee Brothers, and the Honeydogs' Adam Levy in his children's band Bunny Clogs—excellent for hipsters in training.
