More About

This winter is not finished with us yet; we're still in Minnesota, kiddies. It's time to belly up for a bowl full of stewed comfort food at the Compassionate Action for Animals' 3rd Annual Vegan Chili Cook-Off, held at the Seward Community Cafe. Why meatless? Why not? It's seven kinds of wrong to think of chili only as a vat full of dead proteins cooked up by someone brandishing a large belt buckle. At this event, attendees are invited to sip complimentary beverages and sample from crock pots full of hearty veggie love—for free. If you find yourself more of a doer than an observer, entry in the contest costs $20. Participates are asked to bring 15 cups of animal-product-free chili in a container that will keep your goods toasty throughout the competition. Host Robin Garwood will be presiding over the tasting, and winners will be determined by popular vote. Prizes awarded will include CAA merchandise as well as gift certificates from such veggie-loving purveyors as Common Roots Café, Galactic Pizza, Pizza Lucé, and the Seward Co-op.
Sat., Feb. 25, 7:30-10 p.m., 2012
