This Time It's Forever: Portrait Interpretations of the Icon: Scott Seekins

Can a person walk his way to local celebrity? In the case of Scott Seekins, the answer is yes. Over the decades, the artist has made a name for himself with what he refers to as his "Walking Living Gallery," strolling about town in his eye-catching white (or black) suits with his art in a binder. It's an unconventional method that apparently has been successful, as folks often stop to chat and peruse his work when he arrives at a bar or bus stop. Seekins draws inspiration from iconic figures and imagery—including himself—and past works have featured the likes of a troubled Britney Spears and a doe-eyed Snow White (with Seekins present in each piece as well, of course). For "This Time It's Forever," artists were asked to take Seekins as their muse. So in addition to exhibiting some of his most recent works, the group show will also include portraits of Seekins by local artists. Their efforts are to be judged by the man himself. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, February 17, and a closing party from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, February 25.
